Our faith is rooted in Scripture and shaped by the historic Statement of Faith of The Alliance Canada.
At Rockbridge, we hold to the historic, orthodox Christian faith as expressed in the Statement of Faith of The Alliance Canada. We believe the Bible is God's inspired, authoritative Word the foundation for everything we believe and how we live.
Our theology is distinctively shaped by the Fourfold Gospel: Jesus Christ as our Saviour, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King.
There is one God, Creator of all things, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died upon the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins. He arose from the dead, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will come again to establish His kingdom.
The Holy Spirit is a divine person, sent to indwell, guide, teach, and empower the believer and to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as originally given, were supernaturally inspired by God and are the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the supreme and final authority in all matters to which they speak.
Humanity, originally created in the image and likeness of God, fell through disobedience, incurring both physical and spiritual death. All people are born with a sinful nature, are separated from the life of God, and can be restored only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord Jesus Christ has, by His suffering and death, made an atonement for all people. This atonement is the only ground of salvation, and is sufficient for every person. Those who repent and believe in Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and receive eternal life.
The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed by His blood, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the Gospel to all nations.
The Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the Church: water baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism is a declaration of our faith in Jesus Christ and our union with Him in death and resurrection. The Lord's Supper is a memorial of His suffering and death and a prophecy of His coming.
Provision is made in the redemption of Christ for the healing of the mortal body. Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are privileges for the Church in this present age.
The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent and will be personal, visible, and premillennial. This is the believer's blessed hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service.
There will be a bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life; for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment. The unbelieving dead will be judged at the Great White Throne and cast into the Lake of Fire, which is the second death. The believing dead will receive rewards at the judgment seat of Christ.
At the heart of the C&MA tradition is a distinctive vision of Jesus Christ one that shapes how we worship, how we pray, and how we serve.
His sacrificial death and resurrection are the only atonement for the sins of humankind. All who believe in Him are justified and receive eternal life.
The Holy Spirit works daily to cleanse us from sin and conform us to the image of Christ. We are called to pursue holiness and deeper union with God.
Jesus heals body, mind, and spirit. We believe in praying for healing as an expression of God's compassion and power at work in the world today.
We await the imminent, personal return of Jesus Christ. This hope shapes how we live with urgency, faithfulness, and joyful expectation.
